  12/28/2007 - FREDONIA — Don G. Snow, 80, of 379 W. Main St., died at 7:31 p.m., Tuesday, December 25, 2007, at Brooks
  Memorial Hospital in Dunkirk. He was born October 1, 1927, in Charlotte Center, the son of Austin and Clare Birdsey Snow. He
  was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery in Cattaraugus, Cattaraugus, NY.
  SNYDER  Kenneth L.
  7/4/2006 - LAONA — Kenneth L. Snyder, age 86, of Wilson Road, Laona, died Sunday, July 2, 2006 at Brooks Memorial
  Hospital, Dunkirk, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Snyder was born in Buffalo, on Dec.17, 1919, the son of the late William and
  Millie (Green) Snyder. He served in the U.S. Army in the Battle of the Buldge during Wolrd War II. Interment will follow in Laona
  Cemetery, Laona, NY.
  SODERBERG  Arthur R.
  Arthur R. Soderberg, 90 known as ‘‘Tot’’ by his family, of Sherman, N.Y., died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday (May 7, 2008) at
  Absolut Care, Westfield, New York. He was born July 5, 1917, in Sherman, N.Y., the son of the late, Leonard and Marie Kropp
  Soderberg. Art was a decorated WWII veteran; serving in 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions of the U.S. Army. Art entered the
   service in 1942 and was severely wounded three days after storming the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He served the
  remainder of his career in the military police. As an MP, Art was proud to escort Pres. Harry Truman when the
  commander-in-chief was on his way to the Potsdam ‘‘Big Three’’ meeting. A graveside service with military honors,will be held
  SOMERTON  Frederick
  6/17/2003 - CASSADAGA - Frederick ''George'' Somerton, 75, of Cassadaga died Sunday (June 15, 2003) at Lake Shore
  Hospital, Hanover. He was born Oct. 28, 1927, in Buffalo, the son of Austin and Sophie Grant Somerton.He was a veteran of
  World War II, having served with the U.S. Air Corp. Prior to his military service, he was employed as a merchant marine on the
  Great Lakes.
  SPANN  James J.
  8/23/2001 -  James J. Spann Sr., 73, of 114 S. Portage St., died Thursday (Aug. 23, 2001) in his home. A Chautauqua County
  resident his entire life, he was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Westfield, the son of James and Mary Lachuisa Spann. A graduate of
  Westfield High School, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan in the Army of Occupation under
  General MacArthur.  Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
  SPANO  James V.
  James V. Spano, 88, of the Lutheran Retirement Home, formerly of 25 Collins Ave., died at 12:15 a.m. Monday (Dec. 13, 2004)
  in the nursing facility. He was born March 3, 1916, in Jamestown, the son of Joseph and Grace Salupo Spano. He was a 1935
   graduate of Jamestown High School and a veteran of World War II, serving in the the U.S. Army Air Corps as a radio
  technician in the Phillipines and Japan. He earned the Infantry Combat Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good
  Conduct Medal. Following the war, he attended the Art Institute in Buffalo. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum,
  Jamestown, New York.
  STAFFORD  Gordon W.
  3/11/2008 - Gordon W. Stafford, 81, of  2868 Greenhurst Ave., Greenhurst, N.Y., died at 1:15 p.m. Friday (March 7, 2008), in
  the WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born Jan. 9, 1927, in Jamestown, N.Y., a son of the late Maxwell and Helen
   Wade Stafford. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II from Aug. 15, 1945 to Jan. 2, 1947, where he
  earned the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. During his second tour of duty he served in the U.S.
   Air Force from Aug. 25, 1950 to Sept. 9, 1953. Fol-lowing his active duty service he had served for many years in the Army
  Reserve.  Burial will be in Fluvanna Cemetery, Fluvanna, NY.
  STAHLEY  Robert E.
  Robert E. Stahley, 81, of 80 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point, NY,  died at 1:01 p.m. Tuesday (July 20, 2004) in WCA Hospital. A
  lifelong area resident, he was born May 15, 1923, in Jamestown, the son of Jacob E. and Inez M. Ruckman Stahley, Jr. He
  was a 1941 graduate of Falconer High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Nov. 12, 1942 until Jan.
  12, 1946.. Burial will be in Bemus Point Cemetery.
  STALVEY  Winton H.
  Winton H. Stalvey, 76 of Brown Hill Road, Bemus Point, died Friday (July 24, 1992) at home. He was born Sept. 26, 1915, in St.
   Lucie County, in the Township of Fillsmere, Fla., the son of Roan and Georgie Sistrunk Stalvey. He had been a carpenter all
  his life, and was in the Navy at Pearl Harbor doing construction during World War II. Burial was in Bemus Point Cemetery.
  STANFORD  Bruce R.
  MAYVILLE - Bruce R. Stanford, 86, of 9 East Evans St., Mayville died Tuesday (May 11, 2004) at the Chautauqua County
  Home in Dunkirk. He was born March 4, 1918 in Jamestown, the son of the late Hugh and Alice (Rollman) Stanford. Mr.
  Stanford served with the Army Medical Corps during World War II. Arrangements are by the Freay Funeral Home, Mayville.
  STANFORD  H. Ralph
  9/7/2005 - H. Ralph Stanford 79 of 2986 Fluvanna Townline Road died at 8:59 a.m. Monday (Sept. 5 2005) in his home.  A
  Jamestown area resident since 1947 he was born March 20 1926 in Mayville the son of Hugh P. and Alice Rollman Stanford.
  He was a 1947 graduate of Mayville High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Aug. 21 1944 until his
  discharge as a Corporal on June 28 1946.  Burial will be in the Fluvanna Cemetery.
  STANSBURY  Charles D.
  2/20/2001 -  Charles D. Stansbury Sr., 87, of 125 Church St., Apt. 19, Sherman, died at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 20, 2001) in
  The Waters of Westfield. He was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Center Township, Ind., the son of Hudson & Ruth H. Blaud Stansbury.
  He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Navy Seabees. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
  STEADMAN  Charles H.
  12/26/2002 - WESTFIELD - Charles ''Charlie'' H. Steadman, 84, of Edgewater Drive, died Monday (Dec. 23, 2002) in his home.
   He was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Lockport, the son of Durward and Ethel Budd Steadman. He was a veteran of World War II,
  serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific as a seaman first class.  He is survived by his wife, Muriel Bowerman Steadman, whom
   he married Nov. 22, 1940; a daughter, Sheri Ryan of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; a son, Jeffrey Steadman of Chicago; and a
  sister, Loraine Tompkins of Newfane. Interment will be in Budd Cemetery, Warrens Corners.
  STEBBINS  David F.
  6/6/2006 - MAYVILLE - David F. Stebbins, 86, of 5597 Sherman-Mayville Road, Mayville, died on Sunday, June 4, 2006 in his
  home. He was born May 27, 1920 in Mayville, the son of Adelaide (Wilcox) and Floyd Stebbins. He was a 1940 graduate of
  Mayville High School. He was a staff sergeant for the 58th Bomb Wing of the Army-Air Force from 1941 to 1945 in World War
  II. He flew as a tail gunner on the B29’s for 35 missions. Burial will be in the Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, NY.
  STEBBINS  Raymond E.
  Raymond E. Stebbins, 84, of West Lake Road, Mayville, died Monday (April 21, 2008) at Absolut Care of Westfield. He was
  born July 7, 1923, in Mayville, the son of Floyd D. and Adelaide Wilcox Stebbins. A graduate of Mayville Central School in 1941,
   he also attended Gannon College and Tulane University. A veteran of World War II and of the Korean conflict, he was in the
  U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Brock in the Pacific Theatre of War and The Bureau of Ships in Washington, D.C.  Burial
  will be in Mayville Cemetery, Mayville, NY.

  Care Center.  He was born March 30, 1919, in Jamestown, a son of Carl and Alma Johnson Stein.  He was a World War II
  veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Germany. Burial will be in Soldiers Circle of Lake View Cemetery.

  7/17/2005 - PAWLEY'S ISLAND., S.C. - Bertrand W. ''Bert'' Sternburg, 93, of Pawley's Island, S.C., formerly of Naples, Fla. and
  255 W. Summit Ave., Lakewood, died Monday (July 11, 2005) in Murrells Inlet, S.C.  A native of Jamestown, he was born Sept.
   23, 1911, in Jamestown, a son of the late Frank and Myrtle Barber Sternburg. He was a 1932 graduate of Jamestown High
  School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from March 5, 1942, to Oct. 25, 1945, during World War II in France and
  the Rhineland. During his tour of duty, he received the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze stars,
  and the Good Conduct Medal.  Inurnment will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.

  2/19/2006 - Floyd L. Stevens, 86, of 12 Brookside Estates, died at 12:20 p.m. Saturday (February 18, 2006) in his home.  He
  was born July 23, 1919, in Panama, the son of Harry and Florence Goodwill Stevens.  He was a World War II veteran of the
  U.S. Army. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Panana, NY.
  STEVENS  Lawrence H.
  Lawrence H. Stevens, 77, of 8-B Alvin James Dr., Rt. 474 Ashville, formerly of Busti, died at 6:04 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 4, 2004)
   in WCA Hospital. A lifelong area resident, he was born June 27, 1927 in Jamestown, a son of the late Thomas and Mary
  Murdock Stevens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II as a cook aboard the USS Midway. Burial
  will be in the Busti Cemetery.
  STEVENSON  Charles A.
  3/6/2006 - Charles A. Stevenson, 82, of 315 Willard St., formerly of 20 Metcalf Ave., Celoron, died Saturday (March 4, 2006) in
   the Cleveland Clinic.  He was born Aug. 24, 1923 in Grove City, Pa., son of the late Harry J. and Mable Mohr Stevenson, and
  served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1946. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
  STEWART  James S.
  4/28/2003 - FREDONIA - James S. Stewart, 80, of Middlesex Drive, died Saturday (April 26, 2003) in Lake Shore Hospital. He
  was born May 5, 1922, in Dansville, N.Y., the son of the late James T. and Ruth Stewart. He was a veteran of World War II,
  serving in the U.S. Navy Air Corps from 1942 to 1946 as a flight engineer in the Atlantic-Caribbean.
  STEWART  L. Arnold
  6/22/2001 -  L. Arnold ‘‘Arnie’’ Stewart, 72, formerly of 8 Orr St., died at 5:48 a.m. Friday (June 22, 2001) in the Manor Oak Life
  Center. An area resident most of his life, he was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Anthony, W. Va., a son of Wallace and Ellen
  Ludington Stewart. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS St. Paul, the USS Wisconsin, the USS North
  Carolina and the USS Oriskany. He served two tours of duty during World War II and the Korean War from Nov. 15, 1945, to
  his final discharge on Feb. 6, 1952. During his tours of duty he received the World War II Victory Medal, the China Service
  Medal, and the American Campaign Medal. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home.
  STGEORGE  Louis C.
  12/30/2002 - FREDONIA - Louis C. St. George, 81, of Cottage Street, died Saturday (Dec. 28, 2002) in his home.  He was born
  Feb. 23, 1921, in Fredonia, the son of Frank and Frances Gugino St. George. He was a 1939 graduate of Fredonia High School
   and a 1941 graduate of Bryant Stratton Business Institute. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy in the
  Asiatic-Pacific Theater aboard the USS Hilbert (DE-742). He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign with eight bronze battle
  stars, the Navy Occupation Service medal, American Campaign medal, the Navy Good Conduct medal, the World War II Victory
   medal, the Philippine Liberation and Combat Action Ribbon. During World War II, his ship was engaged in operations at Saipan,
  Tinian, Guam, Palau, Leyte, Luzon, Iwo Jima, Okinawa Gunto and the Third Fleet operations against Japan. In December 1944,
  the ship encountered a 131 mph typhoon in the Philippine Sea. Three ships capsized with the loss of more than 800 lives. His
  ship was in the exact center of the typhoon and suffered one loss of life and minor structural damage.  Interment will be in St.
  Anthony Cemetery, Fredonia.
  STORMER  Harry A.
  4/21/2005 - JENNERSTOWN, Pa. - Harry A. Stormer, 83, of 21 18th St., died Wednesday (April 20, 2005) in Jennerstown
  Regional Hospital, Jennerstown.  He was born May 29, 1921, in Jamestown, the son of William E. and Alice Whitney Stormer.
  He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army in the Philippines, Okinawa and Guam. A memorial service will be
  announced by Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home.
  STOWELL  Donald C.
  Donald C. Stowell, 50, of RD 1, West Ellery-Maple Springs Road, died late Monday evening (Aug. 8, 1977) in Jamestown
  General Hospital, where he had been a patient since July 26. Stowell was born Sept. 5, 1926, in the Town of Ellery, the son of
   Clyde and Marjorie Casselman Stowell. During World War II, he served as a medic with the U.S. Navy. Burial will be in Bemus
  Point Cemetery.

  3/17/2001 -  Albert A. ‘‘Stub’’ Straight Jr., 77, of Cassadaga and Hernando, Fla., died Saturday (March 17, 2001) in Brooks
  Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1923, a son of the late Albert A. and Isabelle Greiner Straight. A Cassadaga resident
  most of his life, he attended Cassadaga Valley Central Schools. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army
   Air Corps in France and England.  Burial will be in Cassadaga Cemetery.

  born June 1, 1923, in Westfield, the son of Frank and Hattie Brown Strain, and raised by his grandmother, Minnie Strain. He
  had served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946.A private interment will be held.

  1/19/2006 - IRVING - Robert W. Strong Sr., age 89, a resident of TLC/HN-Nursing Facility, formerly of Main Street, Forestville,
  died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at his residence.  Mr. Strong was born in the town of Freedom, N.Y., on Sept. 9, 1916, the son of
   the late Rev. Reuben E. and Lila (Moore) Strong. He was a graduate of the former Delevan High School, class of 1934, a
  graduate of Houghton College, class of 1940 with a bachelor;s degree in music, and received his master's degree from New
  York University. He served in the U.S. Army as a Tec 4 in World War II and performed with the 88th Infantry Division

  Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk. He was born June 14, 1924, in Owego, N.Y., the son of Victor and Emily White Strong. He was a
  veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater. He received the Purple Heart.Burial will be in St.
  Mary’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

  Gilbert Strunk. Gordon was a 1936 graduate of Falconer High School and a graduate of RIT. He was a veteran of the U.S.

  Florence Brown Stubbs. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy from July 1946 until June 1950. Burial in

  School.He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. Burial will be Panama Union Cemetery.
  SUCHAR  Alphonse M.
  Alphonse M. Suchar, 87, formerly of 425 Hunt Road, WE, died at 5:15 p.m. Monday (Jan. 20, 2003) in Heritage Green Health
  Care Center. An area resident since 1947, he was born April 2, 1915, in Buffalo, the son of John and Lucy Onusgkiewicz
  Suchorabowski. A veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, he attended Niagara University and was a graduate of
  the University of Buffalo.  Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
  SUNDELL  Harold T.
  1/19/2002 -  Harold T. Sundell, 87, of Loyalton of Lakewood, formerly of Pittsburgh, died at 1:10 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 19, 2002)
  in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown area resident for the past six years, he was born March 30, 1914, in Kallered, Sweden, a son
  of Eric M. and Hanna Olausson Sundell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from Jan. 21, 1943, to Dec. 10, 1945,
  during World War II in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He served as a member of the 625th Ordinance Ammunition
  Co. During his tour of duty, he received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal with three bronze stars,
  the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.  Visitation will not be observed.
  SUNDQUIST  Lawrence
  4/16/2006 - Lawrence Sundquist, 81,  of 3274 Busti-Stillwater Road, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday April 15, 2006, in the Lutheran
  Retirement Home. He was born August 5, 1924, in Jamestown, a son of Roy and S. Irene Phillips Sundquist.  He was a 1941
  graduate of Jamestown High School and attended University of Illinois for two years. He was a World War II veteran of the
  U.S. Army serving in the China-Burma-India Theatre. Burial will be in Busti Cemetery.
  SUTHERLAND  Robert M.
  9/27/2007 - WESTFIELD — The Rev. Robert M. Sutherland, 83, of Chestnut Street, Westfield, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007,
  at home following an extended illness. Rev. Sutherland was born on April 17, 1924 in Oneida, N.Y., the son of the late Myron
  E. and Clara (Endter) Sutherland. Rev. Sutherland was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of World War II serving as a radio
  operator. Inurnment will be in the St. Peter’s Columbarium.

  2006, in his Jamestown home.  He was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Fargo, N. D., the son of Edwin Theodore and Hulda Bergman
  Swanson. He was a graduate of Bemus Point High School and Albion College, Albion, Mich. He served in the U.S. Army Air
  Force from 1942 to 1946 during World War II as a pilot of B-29's with the 19th Bomb Group, 93rd Squadron on missions over
  Guam and in the Pacific Theatre.  Inurnment will be in the Bemus Point Cemetery.

  Carl O. ''Kelly'' Swanson Jr., 81, of 145 Greenhurst Village Drive, died at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday (March 23, 2004) in WCA Hospital.
  A lifelong area resident, he was born Nov. 5, 1922, in Jamestown, the son of Carl O. and Marian Cordwell Swanson Sr. He
  was a 1941 graduate of the former Celoron High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II with
  service in the South Pacific Theater.Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.

  Sept. 12, 1906, in Molnyke, Sweden. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the military police in China,

  1/29/2005 - Frederick G. ''Ted'' Swanson, 89, formerly of 2901 Stone Road, Falconer, died at 1 p.m. Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) in
  the Heritage Green Health Care Center.  A lifelong area resident, he was born April 8, 1915, in Scandia, Pa. the son of John
  and Jennie Spetz Swanson. He attended schools in Scandia, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army
  from 1941 to 1945 in the European Theatre.Burial will be in the Levant Cemetery.
  SWANSON  Gordon G.
  11/2/2001 -  Gordon Gene Swanson, 74, formerly of Jamestown, died Friday (Nov. 2, 2001). A Sumter County resident since
  1988, he was born in Jamestown. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy.  A memorial service will be held
   at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Florida National Cemetery.
  SWANSON  Irving O.
  3/17/2003 - BEMUS POINT - Irving O. Swanson, 82, of 4031 N. Clifford Ave., died at 11:05 p.m. Saturday (March 22, 2003) in
  his home. He was born Dec. 18, 1920, in Jamestown, the son of Oscar W. and Anna M. Nelson Swanson. He was a U.S.
  Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from Nov. 12, 1942, to Feb. 28, 1946, as a surgical and orthopedic brace
  technician. His artistic skills were used to assist plastic surgeons in the reconstruction of facial deformities and burns on
  soldiers injured in combat. He also did illustrating and cartooning for Army newspapers. Burial in Bemus Point Cemetery
  SWANSON  James E.
  2/1/2006 - James E. ''Ed'' Swanson, 86, of 235 Newton Ave., died at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, in the Heritage Park
  Health Care Center. A lifelong area resident, he was born in Jamestown July 24, 1919, a son of Erik and Sigrid J. Peterson
  Swanson.  He was a World War II Air Force veteran and member of the 95th Bomber Group, 8th Air Force, serving from 1940
  to 1945, and became a member of the Caterpillar Club following the downing of his plane in Belgium. He later served during the
   Korean War.  Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
  SWANSON  John P.
  John Parker Swanson, 87, of Salem and formerly of Lakewood, N. Y., died at his home in Salem, Va. on Saturday, June 28,
  2008. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. The Swanson family is being served by John M. Oakey and Son, Salem,

  2/1/2002 -  Kenneth Daniel Swanson, 80, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2002). He was born Aug. 8, 1921, in Jamestown. He was a
  1941 graduate of Jamestown High School and a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Corp of Engineers in the
  Pacific from 1942 to 1947.A graveside service will be held in Oak Hill Memorial Park, 300 Curtner Ave., San Jose, Calif.
  SWANSON  Lawrence E.
  3/24/2008 - Lawrence E. Swanson, 82, of 2508 Palm Road, died at 4:49 a.m. Sunday (March 23, 2008) in WCA Hospital. A
  lifelong area resident, he was born March 8, 1926, in Jamestown and was the son of the late John and Irene Tappan
  Swanson. Lawrence was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 in the South Pacific Theatre. Burial
  will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
  SWANSON  Richard R.
  5/3/2001 -  Richard R. Swanson, 81, of 2109 Southwestern Drive, died at 10:16 a.m. Thursday (May 3, 2001) in WCA Hospital.
   A lifelong area resident, he was born Jan. 5, 1920, in Jamestown, the son of Arthur K. and Selma Johnson Swanson. He
  was a graduate of Jamestown High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II from Jan. 8, 1942, to
  Oct. 10, 1945. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
  SWANSON  Richard T.
  Richard T. Swanson, 82, formerly of Baker Street Estates, died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 29, 2004) in the Heritage Park
  Health Care Center. He was born Dec. 28, 1922 in Jamestown, the son of the late Tilmer and Mildred Thurber Swanson. A
  1941 graduate of the former Celoron High School, he received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from
  Tri-State University in Indiana. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II with duty on the USS Rocket, USS YMS, USS
  Marabout, and USS Execute.  Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
  SWETLAND  Ray M.
  11/22/2001 -   PORTLAND, N.Y. — Ray M. Swetland, 86, of Patterson Lane, Greencrest, died Thursday (Nov. 22, 2001) in his
  home. A lifelong Fredonia area resident, he was born Jan. 8, 1915, in Buffalo, the son of Gay and Harriett Morse Swetland. He
   was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force from November 1942 to January 1946 in the Pacific Theater
   as a tech sergeant in radio communications. Interment will be in Portland Evergreen Cemetery.
  SYPER  Andrew
  Andrew Syper, 86, a resident of TLC/HN Lake Shore Nursing Facility, Irving, formerly of Sheridan, died Wednesday, June 11,
  2008 following a short illness at TLC/HN-Lake Shore Hospital, Irving.  He was born in Vestaburg, Pa., on May 16, 1922, the son
   of the late Anthony and Felicia (Janeczeska) Syper. Mr. Syper was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Marines
  from 1943 to1945. Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville, NY are in charge of arrangements.
